The Buffer alternative that writes the posts as well as publishing them
Buffer is a good scheduler. A scheduler with an empty queue is a calendar with nothing in it.
Buffer has been the default social scheduler for over a decade and it deserves that position. This page is not an argument that it is bad software. It is an argument about which half of the problem it solves. Everything about Buffer below comes from its own site.
What Buffer is
Buffer calls itself "your social media workspace". It supports Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, YouTube, Threads, Pinterest, Google Business Profile, Bluesky and Mastodon, which is the widest channel list in this comparison. You schedule content to those platforms, you get analytics that the site frames as "answers, not just analytics", and you can reply to comments across channels from one dashboard. There is an AI Assistant that helps brainstorm, rewrite and adapt a post per platform. It is a helper for your writing, not a replacement for it.
Pricing is per channel. The free plan covers 3 channels, 10 scheduled posts per channel, 100 ideas, one user, five AI reply suggestions a week, one saved reply and 30 days of analytics history. Essentials is $5 a month per channel, or $60 billed yearly, with unlimited scheduled posts and advanced analytics. Team is $10 a month per channel with unlimited team members and approval workflows. Both paid plans come with a 14 day free trial.
Where it stops
Buffer schedules. You supply the content. That sounds obvious written down, and it is still the reason most founders' Buffer accounts go quiet by week three. The bottleneck was never the posting. It was sitting down on a Tuesday night to write five posts, film a video, design a carousel and think of a hook, every week, forever, while also building the product.
The per-channel pricing has a second effect. Five channels on Essentials is $25 a month, not $5. That is still reasonable for what it does, but compare it to a platform that makes the content as well, and the gap narrows fast.
What AutoTraction does instead
You enter your website. AutoTraction reads your product, works out who it is for and how you sound, and then makes the content: video with voiceover, filmed, edited and captioned, six-slide carousels with a hook, four tips and one ask, and founder posts in your voice. None of it is a template. It publishes daily to TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, X and Facebook through official APIs at a human pace, on the accounts you already own.
Then it keeps going past content. It sources leads every week and writes to them by email and on LinkedIn from your own accounts. It finds threads on Reddit, X and LinkedIn and drafts replies for you to paste, never posting them itself. It writes press releases and pitches journalists. It runs Meta and TikTok ads under a cap. It watches which posts bring signups rather than views and makes more of those. Your time: about four minutes a day.

When Buffer is the better choice
Often, in fact. Buffer is the right answer in several situations.
You already write your own content and enjoy it. If posts are not your bottleneck, paying for content generation is paying for something you do not need. Buffer's free plan may be all you ever want.
You need channels we do not cover. YouTube, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon and Google Business Profile are on Buffer's list and not on ours. If your audience is on Pinterest, this is not a close call.
You are a team with an approval process. Buffer Team at $10 a month per channel gives unlimited members, custom access levels and approval workflows. AutoTraction is built for a founder approving their own marketing, not for a content team reviewing each other's drafts.
And you want to manage one or two channels for as little as possible. Nothing beats free, and Buffer's free plan is a real one.
Who should switch
Founders whose queue is empty. If you signed up for a scheduler, posted for two weeks and then stopped, the tool was never the problem. You need something that produces the video and the carousel and the post, then publishes them, then tells you which ones brought signups.
And founders who realise scheduling is one sixth of marketing. The head-to-head page puts the two products side by side in more detail.

Does Buffer write posts for me?
It has an AI Assistant that helps brainstorm, rewrite and adapt posts per platform. The site describes it as help with your writing rather than content produced for you, and it does not make video or carousels.
Is AutoTraction more expensive than Buffer?
Buffer has a free plan and starts at $5 a month per channel. AutoTraction Solo is $19 a month for every channel, and includes the content itself plus outreach, replies, press and ads.
Can AutoTraction post to YouTube or Pinterest?
No. It posts to TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, X and Facebook. Buffer's channel list is wider.
