ALTERNATIVES

The Typefully alternative for founders who would rather not write

Typefully makes writing threads pleasant. AutoTraction is for founders who do not want to write threads at all.

Typefully is one of the nicest writing tools on the internet, and that is exactly the point of this comparison. It is a tool for people who want to write. If writing is the thing you keep not doing, a better editor does not fix it. Everything about Typefully below comes from its own site.

What Typefully is

Typefully describes itself as the "best social media tool for creators and businesses". It supports X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon and Instagram. The site sums up the workflow as writing drafts, scheduling posts, publishing content, analysing performance and building repeatable social media workflows.

On price there are four tiers. Free is $0 for 10 posts a month, one social set and one user. Creator is $99 a year, billed annually only, and adds X analytics, AI writing features and unlimited media uploads, still with one social set and one user. Business is $18 a month per social set, billed yearly, for up to 50 social sets with unlimited users, collaboration, and roles and permissions. Enterprise is custom, behind a "Request trial" button.

Where it stops

The editor is the product. You still supply every idea, every hook and every line. That is a feature for someone whose craft is writing in public, and a wall for a founder who opens the app, stares at a blank draft, and closes it.

And the scope is social text. No video, no carousels, no cold email, no lead sourcing, no press, no ads, and no help finding other people's threads where your product is the answer.

What AutoTraction does instead

You enter your website. AutoTraction reads the product, works out who it is for and how you sound, and drafts the positioning. Then it makes the content: video with voiceover, filmed, edited and captioned, six-slide carousels built around a hook, four tips and one ask, and founder posts in your voice. It publishes daily to TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, X and Facebook through official APIs on your own accounts.

It also finds the threads on Reddit, X and LinkedIn where somebody is asking for what you built and drafts the reply for you to paste, never posting replies itself. It sources leads weekly and emails them and messages them on LinkedIn from your own accounts. It writes press releases and pitches journalists. It runs Meta and TikTok ads inside a cap. It watches which posts bring signups and makes more of those. Four minutes a day.

When Typefully is the better choice

When you write. If you have things to say and you say them well, Typefully is a better home for that than anything automated. Threads compose cleanly, drafts are easy to live with, and the analytics tell you which of your own ideas landed. An AI writing in your voice is a compromise. Your actual voice is not.

Be clear about the money too. Creator at $99 a year is less than we charge for a year of Solo at $19 a month, so if writing and scheduling for X and LinkedIn is the whole job, Typefully is the cheaper answer and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

It is also the better pick if your channels are Bluesky or Mastodon, which we do not post to, and if what you want is a calm writing environment rather than a system that runs six things at once.

Who should switch

Founders who have owned a writing tool for three months and have four drafts in it. That is the common case, and it is not a discipline failure. Writing marketing copy about your own product is a separate skill from building the product, and most people who are excellent at the second are slow at the first.

Also founders who need more than text. A launch week that is only posts is weaker than one with video, a carousel, replies in the threads where people are asking, a press pitch and some outreach. Our guide to getting the first 100 users walks through that week by hand.

What does Typefully cost?

Free is $0 for 10 posts a month. Creator is $99 a year with annual billing only. Business is $18 a month per social set, billed yearly, up to 50 sets with unlimited users. Enterprise is custom.

Does AutoTraction write threads?

It writes founder posts for X and LinkedIn in your voice, along with video with voiceover and six-slide carousels, and publishes them for you. You approve before anything goes out.

Can I still write my own posts?

Yes. Approval is part of the loop, so you can edit anything before it is published, and the replies it drafts for Reddit and X are pasted by you rather than posted automatically.
