Marketing for pre-seed startup teams
Customers, no time. AutoTraction runs the channels a small team keeps skipping, and pitches investors when you raise.
A pre-seed team is two or three people who are all doing two or three jobs. Somebody is building, somebody is talking to customers, and marketing is what happens on the Friday nobody had a call. It is not neglect. There is no seat for it yet, and the seat costs more than the runway allows. Here is what AutoTraction takes off that list, plus the one thing that only matters at this stage: investor outreach.
The situation you are actually in
You have some customers, probably from your own network, and you have learned things from them that nobody outside the team knows yet. That knowledge is the raw material for good content, and it is sitting in a Notion doc.
Meanwhile you have three deadlines at once. Ship enough to be credible. Find customers who did not come from a warm intro. Raise, or extend the runway. Marketing feeds the second and the third, and it is the one that gets cut, because its result shows up six weeks after the work.
The risk for a team at this stage is starting and stopping. Two people post for a fortnight, a customer emergency lands, and the channels go quiet for a month. Every channel that works rewards showing up daily.
What AutoTraction does, channel by channel
Setup starts with your website. It reads the product, the audience and the voice, drafts your positioning and writes the first posts, at no cost. Then:
Content
Videos with voiceover, filmed, edited and captioned. Six-slide carousels shaped as hook, four tips and one ask. Founder posts in your voice, longer Facebook posts, short posts for X. Built from your product, not a template.
Posting
Daily to TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, X and Facebook, through official APIs, at human pace, on your own accounts. That includes founder accounts, which for a pre-seed team usually carry more weight than the company page.
Replies
Threads on Reddit, X and LinkedIn where people are already asking for what you built, with replies drafted for whoever owns that channel to paste. See Reddit replies drafted for you, posted by you.
Outreach
Leads sourced every week, then written to by email and on LinkedIn from your own accounts, with follow-ups until they answer. On the larger plans more than one person can send, which matters with two founders and two networks. See LinkedIn outreach for founders.
Press
It reads the morning's news, works out which journalists would care, writes the release and sends the pitch. Press is one of the few things that helps customers and investors at the same time, and a pre-seed team almost never gets to it.
Ads and the learning loop
Meta and TikTok ads in one place, creative written for you, the winner kept, the rest killed, never past the cap you set. Everything is judged on signups rather than views, and the winners are what it makes more of.
Investor outreach, when you are raising
This is the part that is specific to your stage. If you are raising, AutoTraction finds the funds that back companies like yours and writes the first note in your voice. You take the meeting.
It is limited to the first note on purpose. The list and the drafting are the parts that eat a week. The conversation is yours, and so is every decision after it. If you are not raising, this does not run.
What it will not do
- It does not auto-post replies. Reddit and X replies are drafted and a human on your team pastes them.
- It does not fake engagement. No bought likes, no bot accounts, no comment spraying at scale.
- It does not run your fundraise. It writes the first note to relevant funds. Meetings, materials and decisions stay with the founders.
- It does not replace customer conversations. When a lead replies, the thread is handed to you.
- It does not fix positioning you have not settled. Run the free site grader and fix what it flags before you scale traffic into it.
Your four minutes a day
One person reads the morning briefing, approves a couple of things, and answers the conversations worth answering. Four minutes, and not necessarily the same person every day.
| Job | Who does it now | Who does it with AutoTraction |
|---|---|---|
| Write the week's content | Whoever has a free Friday | Generated, you approve |
| Post every day | Nobody, most weeks | Published daily to your accounts |
| Answer relevant threads | Occasionally, by accident | Found and drafted, you paste |
| Build and work a lead list | A founder, in the evening | Sourced, written to, followed up |
| Pitch journalists | Rarely happens | Release written, pitch sent |
| First note to investors | A founder, during the raise | Funds found, first note drafted |
The habit is written out in the four-minute marketing routine, and the press side in how to pitch journalists as a solo founder.
Which plan fits
Teams usually want Pro or Scale, because the limits that bite are outreach channels and senders rather than credits. Pro at $99 a month gives 1,500 credits, email and LinkedIn together, a mailbox set up for you and three campaigns at a time. Scale at $249 gives 4,000 credits, three LinkedIn senders, three mailboxes and unlimited campaigns, which is the plan when two or three people all send. Every plan runs the whole platform, investor outreach included. The comparison is on the pricing page.
If your team is really one founder plus contractors, marketing for solo SaaS founders is the better read.
Can more than one person send outreach?
On the Scale plan, yes: it includes three LinkedIn senders and three mailboxes. Pro sets up one mailbox for you and runs three campaigns at a time. Solo and Starter are built around a single sender.
Does the investor outreach share our deck or our numbers?
It finds funds that back companies like yours and writes the first note in your voice. What goes in that note is yours to approve, and the meeting itself is yours. Nothing else about the raise is automated.
Do posts go out under the company or the founders?
It posts to the accounts you connect, and founder posts written in your voice are one of the formats it generates. Most pre-seed teams connect both and let the founder accounts carry the personal posts.
We already have a content person. Is this redundant?
If someone is genuinely posting daily across five channels, answering threads, running outreach and pitching press, then yes, and you should keep them doing it. AutoTraction is for teams where that seat does not exist yet.
